A remastered version of the 2009 Ghostbusters video game has now appeared, but is it legitimate?
It has been nearly ten years since Ghostbusters: The Video Game was released on last-generation hardware by Atari. As we near that anniversary, it looks like the game could soon be coming back.
As seen on Game Rating, a Taiwanese game ratings website, a remastered version of Ghostbusters has now recently appeared. The appropriately titled Ghostbusters: The Video Game Remastered has been listed for a release on Xbox One.
Mad Dogs Games, who has previously published titles like NBA Playgrounds and Shaq-Fu: A Legend Reborn, is listed as the publisher of this version of the game. No additional versions of a potential remaster of Ghostbusters: The Video Game were listed for other current generation hardware such as PS4, Switch, or PC and no release date was also given.
While the listing here seems to be pretty straightforward, you obviously shouldn’t take it as complete truth just yet. There’s a possibility that this listing could be an accident, or it could be referring to the backward compatible version of the game on Xbox One. It’s worth noting that this latter point though doesn’t extend to any other backward compatible titles on Game Rating’s website, which means it is unlikely to be the reason for its appearance.
The other option here is that Ghosterbusters: The Video Game Remastered is indeed real and will be coming at some point in the future. The track record of games getting leaked ahead of time via rating websites like this is historically pretty solid, so there’s definitely a fair likelihood that the game is in the pipeline.
Regardless of whether or not this listing is true, we should learn either way as time goes on. Personally, I’d be more than down to revisit Ghostbusters on modern hardware if it does indeed head to current platforms.
