We all know that Red Dead Redemption 2 online beta was coming this month, but with any title that provides an online beta, there’s always that doubt in your mind if it will be pushed back or not. Thankfully according to Take-Two Interactive’s CEO Strauss Zelnick, it will arrive by the end of the month.
During an earnings call yesterday where Strauss talked about Red Dead Redemption 2 already shipping 17 million copies worldwide and overtaking the original Red Dead by a longshot in the space of a month, he also confirmed that we will indeed be tackling that public open beta in a few weeks, but remained silent about disclosing any more details.
After being asked how he thought Red Dead Redemption 2 Online will compare to the release of GTA Online, Strauss Zelnick explained:
“It will launch in public beta towards the end of the month – Rockstar will have a lot more to say about it”.
Given what we know about the online mode, it’s pretty exciting to think we will be getting some hands-on action in a few weeks. In an interview with IGN, Imran Sarwar, Director of Design at Rockstar North, and Josh Needleman, Senior Producer at Rockstar San Diego answered some need-to-know questions like how we will be able to explore online either alone or join with friends or other players to compete or work together and that we will be able to take advantage of the vast open world in the online multiplayer.
Check out our in-depth review of Red Dead Redemption 2 and also how you can become a better outlaw. We will, of course, keep you updated on any further announcements regarding the exact date for when the public beta goes live.
If you still haven’t picked up your copy of Red Dead Redemption 2, don’t worry, it’s not too late as you can jump over to Amazon right now to get your very own.
