Pokémon GO is Getting GO Snapshot Photo Mode for iOS and Android

Pokémon GO will be getting a photo mode called GO Snapshot soon and will let you take photos of your Pokémon in the AR world.

Pokémon GO launched in 2016, prompting players to get out into the real-world and make use of the satellite navigation features in their mobile phones to go and catch Pokémon using AR systems. Since then, people have been creative with the AR camera trying to take screenshots of their encountered Pokémon lined up with real-world objects. Well, now you’ll be able to just take photos of Pokémon thanks to the new GO Snapshot.

Announced today by Niantic, Inc and The Pokémon Company International, GO Snapshot will allow users to make use of the AR system available in Pokémon GO in a whole new way. The upcoming feature allows players to take photos of their Pokémon in the real world, free from the limitations of trying to catch one of the creatures.

In fact, Ryuta Hiroi, Product Manager at Niantic, Inc said that they were “inspired by the incredible photos Trainers have taken in AR+ mode and exploring new ways to further bridge the digital and physical worlds through Niantic’s enhanced AR technologies”.

You’ll be able to use any Pokémon that you have in your storage by activating the feature when looking at a specific Pokémon or accessing the camera in your items bag. You’ll choose your Pokémon, tap the screen to send it out into the real-world, set its position, and then move freely around it to snap a photo.

You’ll be able to grab the attention of your animated Pokémon by brushing across it. Photos are saved to your device for easy saving and to be honest…I’ll be making use of this. Admittedly, I had uninstalled the game last night because I haven’t made much use of it over the past few months, but my inner photographer cannot wait for this feature to land.
