Nintendo has announced the next three games coming to the NES lineup of their Nintendo Switch Online service. Donkey Kong Jr., VS. Excitebike, and Clu Clu Land make up the May additions.
The nearly 10 million players who have signed up for Nintendo Switch Online are getting three new additions to their NES lineup. Donkey Kong Jr., VS. Excitebike, and Clu Clu Land will be joining the other NES games that are available for subscribers to enjoy on their Switch.
This trio of titles joins the likes of Punch-Out!!, Super Mario Bros., Metroid, The Legend of Zelda, and many other great NES games. The Switch Online program has been quickly growing over the last few months and this new selection of games provide a solid lineup that should make many old school fans happy.
Donkey Kong Jr. is a sequel to the popular platformer Donkey Kong (which is also available via Switch Online). This is an interesting piece of history as this is the only time Mario appears as the antagonist in a Nintendo game. Mario has captured DK Jr.’s dad and Junior must climb up the stage to save his father.
VS. Excitebike is an enhanced version of Excitebike that lets two players compete against each other. This should make great use of the Switch’s online service. Add in the game’s track creator and this is a game that could find a big audience on the Switch.
Clu Clu Land rounds out the lineup. It stars a female balloonfish named Bubbles who needs to uncover golden Ingots as she swims around a maze. There was an expanded edition known as Vs. Clu Clu Land, which contained twice as many puzzles. Hopefully, we’ll be getting that edition.
The NES library on the Nintendo Switch Online service continues to grow and makes it relatively easy to justify the service’s $19.99 price tag. Be on the lookout for these three new games to come to the service in the next few weeks.
