Today’s issue of Weekly Famitsu has an interview on Capcom’s Devil May Cry 5, with director Hideaki Itsuno and producers Michiteru Okabe and Matthew Walker.
When asked how they got the idea for the Cavaliere, Dante’s ultra cool bike chainsaw, Hideaki-san answered when making weapons, especially Dante’s, they always try to pick ideas that most guys would still find cool even when they’re grown-up adults. They actually had the idea for it since Devil May Cry 2, but hardware technology wasn’t advanced enough to make it interesting and cool, until now.
They also mentioned that V, the new character and Dante’s client as seen in the Tokyo Game Show 2018 trailer, was designed to be significantly different from Dante and Nero. He’s noticeably less muscular and more slender than the two. They can’t reveal yet any information about his fighting style, but it’s very different from Dante’s and Nero’s and will definitely surprise us when we see it. V is a very unique character and creating him was one of the hardest tasks they had with the game.
They also mention Dante’s Japanese voice actor, Toshiyuki Morikawa, being so cool and similar to Dante in real life that they simply let him act without direction and yet it’s still perfect. They’re already done with all of the game’s voice acting and are currently in the last sprint of development.
Devil May Cry 5 won our Tokyo Game Show 2018 Award. Recently we heard that the game will have microtransactions to let the player upgrade characters.
