Developer Funcom has announced a massive new update for their popular open-world survival game Conan Exiles which was almost sold out on PS4 in Japan. In the new update, players who own the game will be introduced to taming animals and making them your pets, but not just any pet – these animals can be used in battle as they fight by your side or you can gather materials from them once you have built a farm.
A new dungeon called Midnight Grove has also been added and a new religion granting players the ability to invoke a gigantic flying avatar of Jhebbal Sag.
Unfortunately, not everything is free. The new Savage Frontier Pack DLC will have you shelling out a few pennies when it launches on Xbox One and PS4 on the 17th of October, but you do seem to get quite a few items for your buck. It introduces more pet skins, new equipment, and new building pieces. The DLC will cost you $9.99, which isn’t too steep.
Joel Bylos, who is the creative director at Funcom stated:
“Pets and taming are important new additions to the gameplay in Conan Exiles. This is something players have been asking for and we are very excited to finally be able to bring it to them. First, you must head out into the world and either find an animal egg or a baby, put them in your animal pen, and then make sure you feed them properly. Once grown up they can become trusty companions in battle or even useful in the production of materials. From tigers to rhinos – there are many different pets to tame and if you feed them right they might even turn into a rare version of that animal.”
The free Conan Exiles update is now available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC for existing players and the Savage Frontier Pack DLC pack, which is already available on PC, will come to PS4 and Xbox One on the 17th October. You can stay up to date by visiting the Conan Exiles blog.
