Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order writer Chris Avellone would like to write for The Witcher and Overwatch franchises if he had the chance.
Chris Avellone is one of the most popular game writers out there. He’s worked on everything from Fallout: New Vegas to Pillars of Eternity and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II. As that taste of his work indicates, he’s also had the chance to work on quite a few famous franchises. He’s even returning to Star Wars this year with Respawn Entertainment’s Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. That being said, there still seems to be a few franchises, specifically Overwactch and The Witcher, that Crhis Avellone would like to work with even if he is content with his current projects
“In my career I’ve had the chance to work on Fallout, World of Darkness, Dying Light 2, Planescape, System Shock… it’s been really, really good. feel like I’ve worked on – or am currently working on – all of the game series that I really enjoy or love,” Avellone told Video Games Chronicle before delving into a franchise he’d be interested in. “The Witcher would be cool, now that I think about it… that would be very cool! I don’t know if there are any ambitions beyond that for me, other than The Witcher.”
Despite saying that, he also touched on how he would be interested in writing for Overwatch, especially because he has history with their lead narrative designer. “Overwatch would be fun too. I worked with Michael Chu, their lead narrative designer, at Obsidian and I really like his writing. I really love writers who when I read their work I don’t have any comments. He’s a good writer and I love the characterization in that game. I’m a comic book nerd so seeing superheroes in a game environment warms my heart,” he stated.
While writing for The Witcher or Overwatch is currently just an ambition for Chris Avellone at this time, he does has some other projects in the pipeline. As I mentioned before, he is writing for Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order but other projects he is working on include Dying Light 2 and Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2.
