January 2019’s Games with Gold lineup has been unveiled and it seems to feature a little bit of everything.
With the year, and the month, preparing to turn over to January 2019 in just a few more days, Microsoft has today announced which new titles will be hitting their monthly Games with Gold service as soon as the new year arrives.
Overall, it’s a pretty strong month with one of 2018’s biggest indie surprises clearly headlining January’s slate. Yes, Celeste will be made available for free for those with Xbox Live Gold and will be available for the entire month from January 1 through the 31st. The second Xbox One game for the month will be that of WRC 6 FIA World Rally Championship, which will be available starting on January 16 and will last until February 15.
On the Xbox 360 front, Lara Croft: Guardian of Light will be available in the first portion of the month from January 1 through 15th. Lastly, and likely the most divisive, is that of Far Cry 2, which will be available from January 16 until the final day of the month. While Far Cry 2 is beloved by many, it is also considered one of the worst entries in the long-running series by others. Now, you’ll be able to dive in for yourself and see which way you land on it.
This is a pretty strong lineup to kick off 2019 and hopefully, it’ll remain as strong throughout the entirety of the year.
