BioWare is gearing up for new reveals of its upcoming online action-RPG Anthem, but in the meanwhile Executive Producer Mark Darrah continues to provide details via Twitter.
One of the main differences between weapons and gear is that weapons are actually held, while gear is built into your Javelin. This causes a relevant distinction. You need to be hovering in order to shoot your weapons, while some gear can be fired in flight.
Talking about strongholds (which are one of Anthem‘s endgame activities), they won’t all be underground. We also learn that the presence of enemies is indicated on the player’s compass on the HUD.
The game will not support mods. While Darrah himself would love to support them, the technology simply isn’t there at the moment.
Interestingly, we learn something about the lore of the game. The ruins that are scattered around the open world are both human… and belonging to “something” else.
Speaking of lore, we also learn that the game has a codex reminiscent of what we found in the Mass Effect series. That part of the lore will not be voiced.
If you want to learn more about Anthem, there will be story details revealed at PAX West, while Electronic Arts executives mentioned a couple of weeks agothat they’re pleased with the excitement building for the game. You should also check out our preview of the EA Play build of the game.
The game will launch on PS4, Xbox One, and PC on February 22nd, 2019. You can already pre-order your copy on Amazon.
